Digital Missionary Gaming Workshop

One day, live on Discord — three talks on reaching the people already gathered in games. Theology of Fun, Gaming as Parable, and Digital Ethics, led by people who actually play.

The mission field has a controller. On June 25, 2026 the Gaming Workshop gathered pastors, streamers, planters and players — live on Discord, free, in the place gamers already call home.

Three talks, one mission:

  • Theology of Fun — Leighton Seys (host · Director of Community, theChurch.digital — leads the gaming and metaverse outpost; online he goes by FlatCap). Play is not a distraction from the holy: fun, joy and imagination are theological, and the spaces gamers love are mission ground.
  • Gaming as Parable — Dr. Steven Kelso (DrLevelUp · professor and Dean of Students, Kansas Christian College; proprietor of The Guiding Lantern). Games are not just games — they are parables. Learning to read the sacred stories already being told in the worlds your people inhabit.
  • Digital Ethics — Nathan Webb (Nerd Pastor Nate). What faithfulness looks like in the spaces where your parish is a platform.

The conviction underneath it: gamers, geeks and nerds are not a niche — they are a people group, and most of them grew up feeling like they did not belong in church. There are millions of people who will never walk into a church building who will log in tonight. They deserve a missionary who speaks their language.

The next gathering is 2027.
